There is no reason to doubt the sensitivity of Mark Raidpere as a photo and video master and Alice Kask as a talented painter. Mark’s bitterly demanding, yet empathetic gaze and Alice’s light hand, which the head opposes transversely, create mindful and tense atmospheres in their work.
The talents of the two artists intersect and intertwine in their shared belief that “the body does not lie”, where fear of being trapped and passion for movement in Alice’s painting meet Mark’s video about Estonia´s recent history. The video is staged as a mosaic of funnily performed songs and is quite unprecedented in Mark´s oevre. It gives somewhat ironical perspective to our need to move and to rush forward. Meaning probably both – Alice and the whole humankind.
