Valeri Vinogradov

Circe and Via Amorale

2005

The mythological Circe from the series Gods and Demigods and Via Amorale from the Italian Album are both significantly gentler than Vinogradov’s women depicted in his nude studies or the Siberian Album. Yet, particularly regarding the latter, one might raise a question similar to that posed by English art critic Simon Todd to Yankilevsky: “Isn’t it discriminatory that most of your women are headless, while all of your men have heads?” Yankilevsky’s response reflected his philosophy of life and art: “No, because they are two parts of the same being.”1Анна Асланян Лондон открыл “анатомию чувств” Владимира Янкилевского.
