Vladimir Yankilevsky
A Gaze I N 37 and Head I N 19, 31/x-72
1972
The year 1972 marks a prolific period for Yankilevsky in the field of graphic art. He shows little interest in exploring the variety of print techniques, relying instead on the sensitive expressiveness of etching to convey what matters most to him: the turmoil of emotions and fragments of thought reflected in what is considered the most valued part of the human body – the head. These two works perfectly exemplify Yankilevsky’s series Anatomy of Feelings. One section of our exhibition shares this name, as did Yankilevsky’s retrospective exhibition in London in 2010.
