Lauri Koppel

Lauri Koppel (b. 1986) studied printmaking at the Estonian Academy of Arts (BA 2008, MA 2012). Since 2010, he has worked as a master printmaker at the lithography workshop Ubu Noir. He has received the Eduard Wiiralt Art Award (2022) as well as the Eduard Wiiralt Grant (2010). Koppel’s artistic practice engages with themes of collective visual memory, local material culture, and the disappearance of environmental landmarks. Through the medium of printmaking, he synthesises the specific heritage of this region and its visual culture.
