Hotel Timbuktu

Today, I am 84 and can only wonder, how that young me could have been so brave? How could he have taken such risks as to launch himself into a bush-truck and a pirogue and “float” into the Sahara and a city of sand? Why wasn’t he afraid? How could he possibly have been me? Isn’t that what we all ask ourselves as we grow old? How could we possibly have done what we did?
