Agnieszka Polska
Agnieszka Polska (b. 1985, Poland) is best known for her analytical, hypnotic and multi-layered video installations. At the core of her practice lies a consideration of the individual within the collective. Often reflecting on her own position as an artist and the role of the artist within society, Polska explores the ethical ambiguities faced by individuals who are both situated in and producer of the shared reality we experience. Her works expose the deep metaphysical oscillations between universality and being, and the mechanics behind such movements, including image, technology, language, poetry, imagination and perception.
Polska’s recent solo exhibitions include Polska/ Ziętek at Dzielna Foundation in Warsaw (2023); A Thousand Year Plan at Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw (2021); The New Sun, Heide Museum of Modern Art in Melbourne (2021); Where Have You Been So Long? at La Casa Encendida in Madrid (2021); and The New Sun at FRYE in Seattle (2020), among others. Her works have been featured in various exhibitions and screenings, such as the 24th Biennale of Sydney (2024); the 14th Shanghai Biennale (2024); MUDAM Luxembourg (2023); Kunsthalle Bratislava (2023); Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna in Rome (2023); Belvedere 21 in Vienna (2022); the 14th Baltic Triennial in Vilnius (2021); and the Contemporary Art Centre in Vilnius (2021), among others.
