One evening, after we had left Anna’s studio and walked together on a section of our collective way home, she snapped the photo above. Looking at it now, I can almost hear the sounds that could serve as the soundtrack for Anna’s description of the exhibition At Arm’s Length: “Already in the process of writing, drawing and painting, I sense that there is a need for flow, movement and progression between the different layers of each individual image, as well as between the images themselves. I choose to create this flow with sound, which I record and assemble like a movie script.”
