Anna Niskanen

Anna Niskanen (b. 1990) is a visual artist from Helsinki, who graduated with a master’s degree in photography from Aalto University in 2017. Her works are handmade prints based on photography, in which she deals with remembering nature, landscape, and place. While there are digital stages in Niskanen’s process, the final results rely on traditional analogue photographic methods. In recent years, Niskanen has held numerous exhibitions in Finland and internationally, including at WAM Turku City Art Museum, the Lianzhou Foto Festival, Sequences xi, and Fotografia Europea, as well as solo exhibitions at the Institut finlandais, the Centre de la photographie de Mougins, and Hippolyte Gallery. Her works are part of the Finnish State Art Deposit collection and are placed in the premises of the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs. She is also one of the founding members of the Kosminen collective, which ran a gallery space of the same name in downtown Helsinki.
