Green Slope

This work also features in the composition of Landscape from my Studio Window, (2010-11). It was made directly before this painting was started, indicating that it was newly hung in Olev Subbi’s studio. It represents his abstract phase which began in the 1980s. He continued to return to abstract landscapes for the following decades including this piece, the abstract forms of which imply an instant familiarity. Colour fields work together to create perspective and horizon. It shows the mastering of a concept Subbi worked on for his entire career, to allow colours to take over and create their own compositions.
