Mari Volens

Mari Volens (b. 1986) is an Estonian artist, photographer and translator based in Tallinn. She graduated from the Estonian Academy of Arts photography department (MA, 2017; BA, 2013), as well as the University of Tartu (2007, French language and literature). She has also studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (2015–2016). Working mostly with photography and installation, she seeks solace from the entrenched patterns of everyday life, questioning the established (power) structures. Volens has also been active as an art organizer, both in the Kilometre of Sculpture team and as one of the founding members of the artist-run space Rundum.
