Laura Cemin
Laura Cemin (b. 1992) is a Finland-based Italian artist active in the fields of visual and performing arts. Her work, often presented in galleries and non-traditional performance spaces, brings together elements of performance, writing, and temporality to explore the choreographic potential of words. Although each work originates from a performative action, it can appear in different forms, including text, photography, live performances, and sculptural installations. She received an MFA from Umeå University of Fine Arts in 2019; previous to her fine arts education, she worked professionally for Ballet West, a dance company based in Salt Lake City (USA). Her work has been presented internationally in galleries and museums, such as Bildmuseet (Sweden), EMST (Germany), Tallinn Art Hall (Estonia), Kiasma (Finland) and Bozar (Belgium). Alongside her artistic practice as a maker, she works as an independent dance dramaturg and guest teacher at various art academies.
