Ingrid Allik

Ingrid Allik (1958) graduated from the ceramics department of the State Art Institute and has worked as head of the department. As an expert in Raku ceramics and author of a book on this technique, she currently works as an assistant professor at the Estonian Academy of Arts. She was the first to be awarded Ceramic Artist of the Year in Estonia. She often makes varying installations in which the final combinations of objects are revealed just before the opening of the exhibition. Looking at the exhibition space and the works of other artists, she only picks out the groups of works, harmonies and semantic nuances that are characteristic of the specific exhibition. That is why this digital guide partly presents the artist’s earlier completed works, which may not be displayed in the current exhibition, but give an idea of her thought and work process.
