Ivar Veermäe

Ivar Veermäe received a BA in photography from the Estonian Academy of Arts in 2009 and a MA in 2014 at Spatial Strategies department in Weissensee Kunsthochschule Berlin. His work is based on long term artist research, whereby first-hand information from certain location is one of the most important components. Objects, activities and spaces of his interest lay in everyday life, like search engine, energy use or iconic architecture. His aim is to think about them in larger relational networks, concentrating on their stealthy or hidden characteristics, like a huge data center, oil shale mine or terrorist attack. Ivar veermäe has had solo exhibitions in Edith-Russ-Haus in Oldenburg, Gallery im Turm in Berlin, Tallinn Art Hall Gallery, Tallinn City Gallery, Hobusepea Gallery, Cultural Center of Belgrade and AV17 Gallery in Vilnius, among others. His work has been exhibited in group exhibitions at Riga Biennale, Venice Architecture Biennale, transmediale Festival in HKW, BIENALSUR in Buenos Aires, the Bozar in Brussels, the ZKM in Karlsruhe, the Art Museum of Estonia, Art Hall of Tallinn and the Estonian Contemporary Art Museum.
