Guim Camps lives between Medellín and Barcelona. His work challenges the dominant cultural structures that shape societal perceptions of hegemony. He employs a combination of humor and playfulness in his practice, highlighting the visual and symbolic elements that are transformed or subverted in his participatory projects, installations, photographs, and films. Recently, his focus has been on the world of video gaming, specifically the modifications and hacks that gamers make to popular franchises. These modifications reflect the gamers’ unique perspectives and make the games more fitting of marginalised communities, such as those from the global south and their working class. Camps is also the founder of Sindicato Virtual de Mods and works as a part-time artist, educator, curator and river swimmer.
