Elīna Vītola
Elīna Vītola (b. 1986) is a Riga-based artist whose conceptual yet visually vibrant works vary from paintings to complex communal installations. She studied painting at the Art Academy of Latvia and approaches colours, painting and painted objects in a conceptual way, posing humorous questions about their subject matter, technique and material. Her works analyse the complexities of seeing as well as the way the art world operates and communicates. Vītola is also an organiser and curator. She has curated exhibition series in Riga Circus Elephant Stables and in LOW gallery. Vītola has also received public recognitions like Nordic and Baltic Young Artist Award 2018 and has been shortlisted for Purvītis Prize in 2021.
