Diane Severin Nguyen works with photography, video, and installation. Through material and sculptural experimentations, Nguyen approaches the photographic moment as one of transformation. The artist is particularly interested in exceeding photography as a mode of documentation, and engages with it rather as a set of conditions shaped by desire and speculation. She photographs arrangements made of found organic and synthetic materials under specific lighting conditions in her studio. The artistic process results in captivating images channelling uncanny and liminal. Seductive and strange, the photographs pull the viewer in without giving easy answers to what it is that they are actually engaging with.
